MTC '23: You Don't Want To Miss This
Musical Theater + Camp = MTC
MTC combines the quality of a full musical theater program with the fun and excitement of Mountain Mist Day Camp in the great outdoors!
Register on the phone (203) 235.6386 or at the Downtown Meriden Y (110 W Main).

MTC is a full day summer camp program that costs just $40 a day for YMCA members.
Please visit the Meriden YMCA website to learn about the registration and medical forms required to attend. All paperwork and medical forms must be submitted to the YMCA the Friday before a camp session begins.

Our Program
MTC (Musical Theater Camp) is MYT’s summer program located at Mountain Mist Day Camp (576 High Hill Rd, Meriden), where we put on a show in just two weeks! We rehearse and perform outdoors under the big MYTent - there is nothing like it!
More FUNSHOPS this year!
After a successful "funshop" session with our Rising Stars last year, we are adding a "Funshop" session for our Junior Company! We'll work on auditioning, improvisation, character development, and help out on crew with the Rising Star production.
This just might be the BEST SUMMER EVER!

(TEEN & MARQUEE COMPANY - Completed grades 7-adult)
Session Details
Last summer the Junior Company worked with adults on the inaugural Marquee production of Matilda: The Musical! This year we are excited to shine the Marquee “spotlight” on our Teen Company! The Marquee Company is designed to challenge our students to reach new heights while giving them the chance to work alongside alumni and adults. This year’s production will feature 2 casts: one for our Teen Company students (completed grades 7-12) and one for alumni and adults. Each cast will support each other in the ensemble and has 2 performances. Based on registration and auditions, there may be some crossover between the 2 groups in the casting process as needed. All performers must be available for all 4 shows.
Teen Company/Camper Registration (Completed grades 7-12): Now through the YMCA.

Participation Fee for Adults/Alumni: Purchase 15 tickets (Full Time) or 10 tickets (Part Time).

TEEN COMPANY
Students in the Teen Company will rehearse during the camp day during Session 3 and in the evenings during Session 4. Certain ensemble numbers will be “teen company” only features that rehearse in the afternoons at camp during Session 3.
ALUMNI & ADULTS
Alumni and Adults will be offered 2 levels of involvement: Full Time and Part Time. We recognize that not everyone is available during the camp day to rehearse due to work obligations. As a result, we are offering a part time option that allows adults to try out for small roles and be in a few ensemble numbers.
Full Time
Adults/alumni 25 and younger may sign up to be “full time” participants. They would rehearse during the camp mornings during session 3 (9-12:30) and in the evenings during session 4 (5:30-9:30). Full time participants are eligible for all roles in the adult/alumni cast. During session 3, adults/alumni will not participate in camp activities (like LOGS, lunch, swimming) and will only attend rehearsal time.
Part Time
Adults/alumni who are older than 25 or who cannot attend rehearsals during the mornings may sign up to be “part time” participants. They would rehearse 2 evenings during Session 3, and in the evenings during session 4 with the full cast.
Graduating Seniors
Students who are currently seniors (grade 12) in high school will be eligible to participate as a camper in the Teen Company (completed grades 7-12) OR as a adult/alumni (as they will be a high school graduate) either as a full time or part time participant. Students who want to be a part of camp activities during session 3 (swimming/lunch/etc) must register as a camper. Otherwise they will leave at 12:30.

A True "Summer Theater Camp"
Don't spend your summer in an auditorium - kids already spend enough time in school! MTC rehearses in the fresh air and puts the 'summer' and 'camp' back in "Summer Theater Camp." We rehearse each morning under the shade of the MYTent. Between rehearsals, campers get to take part in camp activities, swim in the pool, play on the courts, and even use the water slide!
The MTC Staff
MTC is run by a mix of educators and MYT alumni who love to share their passion for theater with others. The MTC Staff has been working together at camp for over ten years and loves to see how each summer season continues to raise the bar. As educators first and theater directors second, we cater to children individually and help them develop their skills in small group and whole group settings.
