STOP! Before you register, ensure you have read this ENTIRE webpage. You'll also need to have checked the rehearsal schedule against your calendar, as you submit your conflicts as part of the registration process.
The spring musical with everyone working together on the same show is a tradition that goes back to the early days of MYT (over 30 years ago). Last year, we had a blast performing Mary Poppins JR with over 160 performers! We can't wait for Spring 2025!
Our staff of classroom educators will group students in a variety of ways: Sometimes students will work on choreography and music at a level that is appropriate for their grade and ability. At other times, students will work together with students of different ages and grades - it's a unique experience that creates great partnerships, mentorships, and most importantly - friendships!
NEW! Registration Changes
Starting Spring 2025, MYT will process all fall and spring registrations through the this MYT website, replacing front desk, phone, and online registration through the Y's website.
Camp registrations will remain through the Y Front Desk.

Again for spring: NEW and RETURNING members will no longer register at the YMCA. MYT staff will process all registrations for you!

Here is how the new process works:
Step 1: Prepare! Check your calendar for potential and known conflicts for all rehearsals and performances. 
Step 2: Fill out the Registration Google Form with your contact information and rehearsal availability.
Step 3: MYT will process your payment based on your preference submitted in the Google Form. This will take a few days.
​​​​​​​What are the registration fees for students in grades 3-12?
Students in grades 3-12 will rehearse for four hours every Saturday, either from 9 AM to 1 PM or from 1 PM to 5 PM. If you have a recurring conflict that only allows you to rehearse in the morning or afternoon, please list this on the Registration Google Form, and we will accommodate your schedule. Please be aware that certain groups or roles will rehearse in the morning, while others will rehearse in the afternoon. If you can only attend one time slot, you will only be eligible for roles that match your availability. However, if you can attend all day on Saturdays, you will be eligible to audition for any role.​​​​​​​
Y Members: $249. Program Members: $279
What are the registration fees for students in grades 1-2?
For the first 2 months, students in grades 1-2 will have 2 hour rehearsals, either from 1-3 PM or 3-5 PM. For the remaining 2 months, they will rehearse either in the morning or afternoon with their cast.
Students in grades 1-2 will be eligible to audition for the following roles: Jojo, Mr. Mayor, Mrs. Mayor, Grinch, Cindy Lou. If they are cast in certain roles, they may need to attend group rehearsals from 1-5 PM.
Students in grades 1-2 will be scheduled for at least 11 of the 14 Saturday rehearsals. The differences rehearsal time is reflected in the pricing for students in grades 1-2.
Students in Kindergarten who participated in Willy Wonka JR this fall are also welcome to register for the spring production.
Y Members: $169. Program Members: $199
Do I have to be a Y member?
To participate in MYT (and all other Y programs) you must be either a Full Y-Member or Program Member at the Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA. If you are not a member, youth program memberships are $55/year.

Registration Google Form​​​​​​​
The form will ask for your contact information and rehearsal availability. We’ll also ask if you have any conflicts with rehearsals or recurring commitments that limit your availability to the AM or PM on Saturdays. At MYT, we do our best to accommodate everyone—if you want to be in the show, we want you to be in it! However, certain groups and roles will rehearse at specific times, so you may be limited to auditioning for certain roles based on your rehearsal availability (see graphic above which lists which roles rehearse at each time).
Finally, the form will ask questions about your registration and payment information. If you’re a Y member with your card on file, you can give us permission to bill your card, and you’ll be all set. If not, we can send you an invoice via email to complete your payment.

Auditions
Saturday, January 18th:
9-10 AM: Grades K-2
10-11:45 AM: Grades: 3-5
12:15-2:30 PM: Grades 6-7 and 8th grade last names A-F
2:45-5:00 PM: Grades 9-12 and 8th grade last names G-Z
14-16 W Main. You must be registered and all invoices paid to audition.

During the auditions, students can try for as many parts as they wish. We will call forward interested students for each part and have them sing and possibly read the different characters. Students will sing along with the guide vocals. Audition selections will be provided in advance by January 1st.

If you are unable to attend the auditions on January 18th, you may submit an audition video.

If you are only interested in the ensemble, we still encourage you to attend auditions so we can meet you!
Any Hidden Fees?
Other than your Y membership fee and registration fee for Spring 2025, there are no other charges. Families will need to purchase tickets to the performances, which range from $10 to $25. Additionally, you will need to provide specific costume items for your child. We will send a costume document approximately 1-2 months before the show, detailing the required footwear and costume pieces, as well as the items MYT will provide.

If you wish to support MYT, you have the option to donate and become a Gold or Silver Family sponsor. However, this is entirely optional.
Rehearsals
We are expecting over 140 students to participate this spring! Rehearsals will be structured in 2 ways: 

For the first 2 months, we will rehearse by GROUP/ROLE. 
Groups KANGAROO, WICKERSHAM, and JUNGLE will rehearse from 9-1.
Groups THINGSBIRD GIRLS, and FISH will rehearse from 1-5.
Group WHOS will rehearse from 1-3 or 3-5.
Each character/role in the show will be assigned to a group. If you can only attend AM or PM rehearsals, you will be cast as a role or ensemble member in a group that matches when you can attend rehearsal.
Students in grades 1-2 will be eligible to audition for the following roles: Jojo, Mr. Mayor, Mrs. Mayor, Grinch, Cindy Lou. Most students in grades 1-2 will be cast in Group WHOS. Some may be cast in Group FISH.


For the last 2 months, we will rehearse by CAST. 
We are anticipating having 6 casts. Each student will be in 3 of the 6 performances.
Students in the Friday 7, Saturday 2, and Sunday 2 PM casts will rehearse from 9 AM - 1 PM. 
Students in the Saturday 11, Saturday 7, or Sunday 6 casts will rehearse from 1-5 PM. 
If you cannot attend certain performances or dress rehearsals (as listed in your Registration Google Doc), we will place you in a performance and rehearsal time that best fits your availability. 


We do our best to cast siblings in the same show and rehearsal when possible. However, sometimes due to age differences or other circumstances, we will place siblings in different casts if that arrangement provides the best learning and theater experience for that child.

Performances are held at Edison Middle School on Broad Street! Students will be in 3 of the 6 performances.

NEW! Backyard Broadway is back! A special program just for our youngest performers. Lots of singing, dancing, arts, and camp experiences ahead!​​​​​​​
More information about MTC '25 will be coming in late winter!
Registration for new and returning members will be completed through the YMCA Front Desk (as you are registering for a specialty camp (theater) and Mountain Mist Day Camp. They will set you up with your Camp Doc account where you will upload your child's information, allergies, transportation and more.
